CareerPassport Terms of Use

Version 2026-10-18-v2 · effective 18 October 2026

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

1.1 CareerPassport is operated by Provantic Technologies Private Limited (CIN U47912KA2023PTC173443), a company incorporated in India with its registered office at No 1890, 8th Cross, New Thippasandra, Bangalore 560075 ("CareerPassport", "we", "us").

1.2 These Terms apply when you use:

  • the waitlist website at careerpassport.app;
  • the CareerPassport Android app; and
  • any other CareerPassport website or service that links to these Terms

(together, the "Service").

1.3 Employers use the Service under separate Employer Terms. If you use the Service for an employer, those terms apply to that use.

1.4 These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy and Grievance Redressal page (and, if a referral contest opens, its Contest Rules). If they conflict on a matter they each cover, the more specific document applies.

1.5 By ticking the box to accept these Terms, or by using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We will never pre-tick that box for you. (Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, rule 4.)

2. Eligibility

2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law (Indian Contract Act, 1872, s.11). People under 18 may not sign up or use the Service.

2.2 You must use your real identity. You may hold only one candidate account.

2.3 If we learn that a user is under 18, we will close the account and delete the data, except what the law requires us to keep.

3. What CareerPassport does — and does not do

3.1 CareerPassport lets you build a Career Passport (your education, experience, skills, projects, certifications and résumés), take a readiness assessment, browse jobs, apply to jobs, talk to employers, and track interviews, offers and joining.

3.2 Applying to jobs is always free. We never charge you a fee to apply for, or to be given, a job.

3.3 No guarantee. We do not guarantee that you will get any job, interview, offer, shortlist or placement — whether you use the free plan or a paid membership. Employers make their own hiring decisions. We are not your employer and not an employer's agent.

3.4 We are a platform. Employers post jobs and send messages on the Service. For that content we act as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (s.2(1)(w) and s.79). We check that employers are businesses (see section 7), but we do not guarantee that any job, salary or employer statement is accurate. Use your own judgement before you accept an offer.

3.5 Never pay an employer. A genuine employer on CareerPassport must not ask you for money — for a job, training, uniform, deposit, "processing" or anything else. If anyone asks, do not pay and report it to us at once (section 13).

4. Your account

4.1 Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account unless it happened because of our fault.

4.2 Tell us at once if you think someone else has accessed your account.

4.3 Keep your information accurate and up to date.

5. Your Career Passport, sharing and evidence

5.1 You own your content. Your profile, résumés, projects and other material you upload ("Your Content") remain yours.

5.2 Licence to us. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, format and display Your Content only to run the Service for you — for example, to show it to an employer you chose to share it with. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law (see the Privacy Policy).

5.3 You control sharing. When you apply to a job, you choose what that employer can see — for example résumé, assessment results, projects, email or phone. That choice applies only to that application. You may withdraw it at any time, but an employer may already have seen or saved what you shared before you withdrew it.

5.4 Résumé versions. An employer sees only the specific résumé version you shared with that application. An employer may request a résumé; you decide whether to share it.

5.5 Transparency logs. We log each time an employer views your Passport or reveals your contact details, and we show you that log.

5.6 Evidence labels. Each skill or credential shows one of these labels:

LabelWhat it means
DECLAREDYou stated it. No evidence checked.
EVIDENCE_ATTACHEDYou attached a document or link. We have not verified it.
PLATFORM_ASSESSEDYou completed a CareerPassport assessment for it.
VERIFIEDChecked by CareerPassport against documents or information you provide. It is not a government certificate.

These labels describe what was done. They are not a certificate of your ability.

5.7 Be truthful. You must not upload false, forged or misleading documents or claims. Doing so may be a criminal offence (for example, forgery and cheating under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023) and will lead to account suspension.

6. AI features

6.1 Some optional features use artificial intelligence — for example résumé review, career Q&A, interview preparation and a recruiter assistant for employers.

6.2 AI output can be wrong. It is general guidance, not professional, legal or career advice. Check it before you rely on it.

6.3 AI never decides hiring. No CareerPassport AI feature decides whether you are shortlisted, rejected or hired. Employers (people) make those decisions. Our AI features do not use protected characteristics such as religion, caste, gender, disability or similar attributes.

6.4 When you use an AI feature, we send only the information needed for that task to our AI service providers, who may process it outside India. We do not store your prompts or the AI's answers. See the Privacy Policy for details.

6.5 Do not use AI features to create false credentials or to mislead employers.

7. Employers on CareerPassport

7.1 We require employers to be verified businesses, to post only genuine vacancies and never to charge candidates. They must use your data only for the recruitment you applied for.

7.2 If an employer breaks these rules, report it (section 13). We may remove the job, suspend the employer and, where appropriate, inform the authorities.

8. Membership and payments

8.1 There is a free plan. There is also an optional paid CareerPassport membership at the yearly price shown in the app before you pay (inclusive of GST unless stated otherwise at checkout). (Paid plans are not live yet.)

8.2 The membership pays for tools, preparation and event access — full app features, priority access to features and events ("priority" means feature and event access only), and one REJ Expo pass. It is not a fee for a job, interview, referral to an employer or placement, and it does not improve how employers judge your application. "Priority" never means a higher ranking or earlier visibility to employers.

8.3 We show the full price, including taxes, before you pay. We do not add hidden charges. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we do not store your full card or bank details.

8.4 No auto-renewal. Your membership does not renew automatically. We will send you a reminder before it expires.

8.5 Refunds and cancellation are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to host, display, upload, share or send anything that (in line with rule 3(1)(b) of the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021):

  1. belongs to someone else and you have no right to use;
  2. is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another's privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, or promotes money laundering or gambling;
  3. is harmful to children;
  4. infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
  5. deceives or misleads about where a message came from, or knowingly communicates false or misleading information;
  6. impersonates another person;
  7. threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States or public order, incites an offence, or insults another nation;
  8. contains a virus or other malicious code;
  9. violates any law in force; or
  10. is otherwise covered by rule 3(1)(b) as amended from time to time.

You must also not:

  • scrape, crawl, bulk-download or copy other users' data;
  • try to access accounts or systems you are not allowed to access, or test our security without written permission;
  • create fake accounts or fake referrals, or manipulate the referral contest;
  • send spam or unsolicited promotions through chat;
  • reverse-engineer the app, except as the law allows;
  • use the Service to recruit for an employer without an employer account.

We may remove content or restrict access to comply with the law or these Terms.

10. Our intellectual property

10.1 The Service, the CareerPassport name and logo, our software, designs, assessments and content belong to us or our licensors.

10.2 We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose under these Terms. Nothing else is licensed to you.

10.3 You may share your own Career Passport link. You may not copy our assessments or question banks.

11. Suspension and termination

11.1 By you. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see the Account Deletion page). Paid membership refunds follow the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

11.2 By us. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, act fraudulently, put other users at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close a paid account without your fault, we will refund the unused part of your membership.

11.3 After closure, we keep or delete data as set out in the Privacy Policy.

12. Liability

12.1 Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any liability that cannot be limited by law — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12.2 We provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12.3 We are not responsible for:

  • the decisions, statements, offers or conduct of employers or other users;
  • losses you could not reasonably have foreseen; or
  • loss caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

12.4 Subject to 12.1, our total liability to you for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and (b) ₹5,000.

12.5 You are responsible for loss you cause us by breaching these Terms or the law (for example, by uploading forged documents or someone else's data).

13. Complaints and reporting

13.1 Report abuse, fake jobs, fee demands, or content problems in the app ("Report") or to our Grievance Officer: Adv. Manjunath, Grievance Officer (based in India), grievance@careerpassport.app.

13.2 Timelines and appeal routes are on the Grievance Redressal page.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

14.1 We may update these Terms. We will show the new version number and date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or to fix a security issue.

14.2 If you do not agree to a change, you may close your account before it takes effect; any refund follows the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

14.3 We remind all users of these Terms and the Privacy Policy at least once a year, as rule 3(1) of the IT Rules, 2021 requires.

15. Governing law and disputes

15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of India.

15.2 Please contact the Grievance Officer first. Most problems can be solved that way.

15.3 Subject to 15.4, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.

15.4 Nothing in these Terms stops you from approaching a Consumer Commission, the National Consumer Helpline, the Grievance Appellate Committee or the Data Protection Board of India where the law allows.

16. General

16.1 These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and do not require a physical signature.

16.2 If any part of these Terms is invalid, the rest stays in force.

16.3 We may transfer our rights under these Terms to a successor entity that takes over the Service, with notice to you. Your rights under these Terms and the Privacy Policy will not be reduced by that transfer.

16.4 Failure to enforce a term is not a waiver.
